“We Must Find The Killers Of DJ Sumbody” – Julius Malema Urges The Police. DJ Sumbody real name Oupa Sefoka was best known for his smash hits, ‘Ayepyep’ and ‘Monate Mpolaye’ featuring Thebe and Cassper Nyovest.
The Pretoria born DJ was also a co-owner of the Ayepyep Lifestyle brand alongside his business partner Kagiso Setsetse.
EFF leader Julius Malema has called on authorities to attend to the continuous fatal shootings taking place in Pretoria. Malema was speaking at the Amapiano hitmaker, real name Oupa Sefoka’s funeral in Ga Masemola, Limpopo, on Saturday. Malema has urged police to prioritise Oupa “DJ Sumbody” Sefoka’s murder case.
Sefoka was killed with his driver in a shooting in Woodmead last Sunday. The DJ owned a lounge called Ayepyep lifestyle in Menlyn, Pretoria, and was set to host his annual all-white picnic. Malema said shootings are becoming more common in the area, yet no one is held responsible. “People of Pretoria don’t respect a black life. To them a black life does not matter.”
He said the police should prioritise this case – as Sefoka is a high-profile individual. Police spokesperson Col Mavela Masondo said police received a complaint about a shooting incident at the corner of Woodmead Drive and Woodland Drive in Sandton at about 12.30am on November 20. He asked why police minister Bheki Cele has not declared a 72-hour deadline to find his killers, as they did with other cases. “We must find the killers of DJ Sumbody because the question we must ask of ourselves is who is next? If DJ Sumbody owed someone money and that person killed him because of it, that fool must know they won’t get the money,” said Malema.
