Sizwe Alakine Reveals His Reason Behind Leaving Twitter

Sizwe Alakine Reveals His Reason Behind Leaving Twitter. Sizwe Moeketsi Moniker, is a South African rapper commonly known as Reason, he came to prominence after his collaborative work with Ms Nthabi. He has worked with some of South Africa’s respected names such as Stogie T, Moneoa, ProVerb, DJ Maphorisa, Kwesta and HHP just to mention a few.

Sizwe Alakine announced on Thursday that he will be taking a break from Twitter but fans can reach him on Tik Tok.The rapper whose alter ego is known as Sizwe Alakine said he dumped the bird app due to its toxixity. “Dear Alakines, Leaving Twitter for a while. It’s giving me toxic vibes. Catch me on Tik Tok. Follow me there. Teach me some moves. Share my music. Swing me a challenge again. Anything. But toxicity. Thanks,” he wrote.

Sizwe isn’t the only South African celebrity or person who has lamented about the toxicity on Twitter. People get trolled and bullied there, which led to people being depressed. The likes of Nadia Nakai, AKA, Pearl Thusi and Moozlie have one time or the other lamented about the app and took a break.

Last week, Sizwe released a new single called ‘Mang Ka Pa Mang’.

At first glance, ‘Mang Ka Pa Mang’ appears to have repetitive lyrics. The track, however, produces new meaning beyond the first and second listens when one unpacks it and reassembles ideas. Alakine accompanies the release with visuals shot by legendary music video director, Monde Dube. The video was shot in Mamelodi where he pays tribute to the origin of sounds created in that surburb. The track highlights a woman’s dating decisions that see her become the talk of the town. Known in the neighbourhood as one who dates just about anybody, her ‘market value’ depreciates, a sentiment iterated in Alakine’s clever soccer reference in the lines “I call her Ronaldo ‘cause now she’s a seven that used to be nine”.
