Malawian Hitmaker Zeze Kingston Drops New Song With Ciza And Tony Duardo. Singer-Songwriter and producer Zeze Kingston is making major moves and strides in the music scene with his versatile, soothing sounds and his unique and exceptional flair to cross genres mixing with afro-pop, trap, amapiano, afrobeats and afrobashment.
He is one of the most respected artists in Malawi. When he touches down in South Africa, it is to make more African hits. He collaborated with self-proclaimed Africa’s Golden Boy, Ciza, and international hitmaker music producer Tony Duardo on the new single Shugga. His hit is about the intoxicating power of love.“Shugga expresses the thrill of love and how sweet it can be. It’s fun, playful, and light-hearted.
He has always wanted to work with South African artists to expand his brand, says the 28-year-old. Zeze describes his music style as African Melodic. “I play with a lot of melodies but keep my music and lyrics at times authentic to Africa. To think that is what sets me and other Africans apart. I can do any genre but add African melodies to make it uniquely my style,” he added.
Speaking on how the collaboration came about, he said their admiration for each other’s work. “Tony Duardo produced some of the biggest hits in the country, including Uncle Waffles Tanzania. Ciza’s song with Maphorisa titled Bank Notification is a hit across the continent and it only made sense for me to partner with people whose work speaks to me, and the musical chemistry was unmatched.”
After three years of working at a bookstore, he decided to take on music full-time. “This is all I have been doing and I have no regrets. I use music to express my job and happiness and it puts food on the table. I am glad I followed my passion, as it is taking me all over the world. Right now, I am focusing on pushing the single Shugga and I hope to collaborate with more South African musicians,“ he concluded.
