Vusi Ma R5 has been actively moving the rough around the edges, Barcardi sound to the mainstream. With its similarity with Amapiano, it is very important to be able makes a distinction between Amapiano and Baracardi. But also more importantly, we need to celebrate those that are bringing Barcardi as a genre to the mainstream.

When asked about moving Bacardi into the mainstream, Vusi said: “Shaya Blah, Vusi Ma R5 Mfanola Waosechabe selo. This year we have changed and we are doing things differently. Initially we used to take the Bacardi sound to stokvels, tents, and secluded places but this time around we are taking the Bacardi sound to the lounges, cafés and tshisa nyamas. We are also not limiting Bacardi to only Pretoria or a specific niche, we are going big.”

When speaking about the meaning behind the song Vusi added, Thaba Ke Chenchitse means that you should be happy that I have changed, and that is how we are changing the narrative behind the Bacardi sound. Sharing the story behind Bacardi is long overdue.” The single features Jelly Babie, a vocalist that Vusi felt honoured to work with. “Jelly Babie is very talented and having her on the song made the record even better and will also be loved and enjoyed by many,” shared Vusi.
