Major League DJz Set New World Record With 75-hour Set. Major League DJz is a South African hip-hop/kwaito music band comprising the twin brothers Bandile and Banele Mbere. The duo has completely revolutionised kwaito music into the modern urban culture of music. The band’s popularity clearly shows that they are worth following and listening to, and they are also the Mzansi entertainment bosses.
The popular politician joined the DJ duo as they attempted to set a new world record for the longest DJ set by a duo during a live Balcony Mix Xperience showcase at Joburg’s Katy’s Palace. The EFF leader DJ’d for just under an hour shortly after midnight as the popular amapiano twin DJ duo approached the 75-hour mark.
Throughout the evening various other DJs joined the duo on stage, including the likes of “Wamuhle” hitmaker Slade and “Ivy League” star Kelvin Momo. Ch’cco, Stilo Magolide, 031Choppa, DJ Speedsta, Dr Peppa, Venom and Shishiliza are other industry personalities who made appearances over the three-day event. The venue was also packed with supporters who came to witness the DJs make history.
“This goal tested us in every way, and we’ve come out stronger, more focused and more determined in the pursuit of our global ambitions. To our amazing team, words aren’t enough to express our gratitude, we are forever indebted to you for bringing to life our sometimes ‘crazy’ ideas. South Africa we did it! It’s PIANO TO THE WORLD,” expressed the duo in a statement.
Major League twins were highly influenced by hip-hop and jazz music, which welcomed them to the entertainment industry while teenagers. In primary school, the duo used to play the piano, and after completing high school, they started DJ and music production. Their mother knowing how cruel the music industry can be convinced the boys to do something less musical, but they kept their dream alive. The duo played alongside both local and international artists. Now, Major League twins perform in most of the hottest clubs and events both locally and globally.
