Top female artists like DBN Gogo helped put the dance music genre on the map. Amapiano has quickly built a following in countries like France, Morocco and Japan and is set to hit a billion streams on Spotify this month, according to Phiona Okumu, the platform’s head of music for Sub-Saharan Africa.
The star continues to prove that she can do more than DJ. She recently dropped a song that she worked on as a producer, and now she has jumped into the vocals. In 2020, DBN Gogo released her first musical project titled Thokoza Café with DJ Dinho. A year later, she released her own solo album, Breakthrough. Her albums feature her hit-songs such as French Kiss and Bambelela.
DBN Gogo started her music career in 2018 but only had her breakthrough in 2020 after featuring as a DJ on Channel O’s Lockdown Houseparty.
