Young Stunna On Having Both Creative Parents. Young Stunna was born in Daveyton, South Africa and grew up in a Christian family and often sang in the church choir. His mother was a vocalist and his father owned a tavern which had a jukebox. Spending time at the tavern on weekends exposed him to all types of genres, including RnB and Kwaito.

is parents are both creatives and passed their talents to their son. “My mom is a vocalist. She’s a creative. She used to dance, sing and act so she knew she passed that on to me. My father acted and danced. They met while doing these things so they knew they’d give birth to a creative.”

The hitmaker said he’s proud of the life he’s been able to provide for his mom, even if she can’t leave the house without being mobbed and asked about her son. “My mom is a celebrity. I swear she can’t go buy bread and that’s why I want to take her out. I want her to be free. You know how kasi is. It’s been a long time since a young person went out and said ‘I’m doing this music thing’ and succeeded. A lot of people are pushing music. There are events every weekend. It’s been tough for my mom but she’s adapting to staying at home. She’s learning because there are people who can do everything for her so she doesn’t have to be outside. She’s lost her freedom a bit,” he said.

Speaking on his journey breaking into the music industry, the 21-year-old said: “It’s the hardest thing when you’re not focused and don’t know your story. It takes a lot of self-discipline and staying at home to avoid a lot of things. I only left home to go perform because I wanted to stay away from a lot of wrong things. I made it by going out and showing love to the people I’d meet when performing. I’m a humble being and a respectful person, so that’s how I made connections with people. When you respect people wherever you go, they get to love you and actually want to work with you.”
