Born on the 27th of November 1992, Kabelo Motha, popularly known by Kabza De Small, is a prolific Disc Jockey, record producer and recording artist in South Africa. His genre of music is Amapiano which he does in both English and his local dialect. He is known as the “King of Amapiano”.
Kabza De Small is often heralded as the producer leading the amapiano charge. Fellow trailblazer DJ Maphorisa, arguably the genre’s most visible figure, rarely puts out any music without calling on the talented producer to add his touch.
Kabza De Small is now living the dream of Amapiano, travelling the world and playing at sold-out events. One of their recent shows together with Maphorisa ‘Scorpion Kings’ has just become successful as it also sold out; and also saw multiple amapiano artists playing for a large audience since breaking into the mainstream. Amapiano artists have been lauded over recent years for their spirit of collaboration and willingness to propel new artists to the forefront of the genre. This is also how Kabza was first spotted by Maphorisa. Kabza De Small started his career as a DJ in 2009 and was into so many genres ranging from Afro-fused house to EDM. After a while, he released his first album ‘Avenue sounds’ which gave rise to the hit single “Uber Everywhere”.
