Maphorisa Responds To Fan Who Thinks He Deserves An Honourary Award. Born on the 15th of November 1987, Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe also known widely by his stage name, DJ Maphorisa is a prolific Disc jockey, record producer and producing artiste in South Africa. His genre of music is Amapiano, although he first ventured into Gqom, but due to the Durban producer’s calling him out for doing a genre that wasn’t from his town, he decided to major in Amapiano.

Maphorisa responded to a tweep who revealed he deserves an honorary doctorate. The star has been in the industry for years now and he has been able to dominate his talents in all areas. The DJ has also won the hearts of many with his skills and his fans feel he serves better. A tweep tweeted that he thinks DJ Maphorisa deserves an honorary doctorate from a reputable university in South Africa. He said he has changed the mzansi music industry and uplifted a lot of new artists.

“I think @DjMaphorisa deserves an honorary doctorate from a reputable university in South Africa. He changed the mzansi music industry and uplifted a lot of new artists.” Responding to the tweep, Maphorisa claimed that he wouldn’t be given that until when he is dead. “Trust me they gonna give dat thing when im dead.” See the tweet below:

Phori shared that he owes his success to Kalawa Jazmee, the recording label that has given him an opportunity to do what he loves. “I’ve always envisioned myself being successful. When I got my first computer and realised that I could produce, I started making beats and became a DJ. That’s when I knew that I would one day go far,” he said.
