Black Twitter React To Mlindo’s New Album ‘Lindokuhle’. Lindokuhle Mgedeza, known professionally as Mlindo the Vocalist, is a South African singer and songwriter. He initially gained notable recognition following his debut single, “Amablesser”, taken from his debut album, Emakhaya.
Following Mlindo the Vocalist’s successful debut album Emakhaya, listed as the best-selling album in SA for three years, the singer said the four years that followed were taxing. From the numerous accidents that he survived to the industry politics that includes him not seeing eye-to-eye with DJ Maphorisa and recently passing out on stage during a Soshanguve performance – seemingly intoxicated – the 26-year-old revealed that he felt as if he was losing himself. All of which led to a depressive state which resulted in him not being in the studio for some time – albeit his fans begging for one.
But with his sophomore self-titled album Lindokuhle, Mlindo takes listeners on a journey of rising from the villages to what he went through in the industry and then ultimately finding himself again. The album dropped today, and from the reactions on social media, the album is already a hit. See more reactions below:
Mlindo dropped his first successful album ‘Emakhaya’ at the age of 23. “My first album changed my life drastically. My mother retired from being a kitchen girl at the age of 35 and I bought her a home, took three of my siblings through school and bought cars for the family as we never ever had any before. Life really took on a different shape and I was grateful for it,” he said.
But with every passing moment, the star slowly relaxed and would occasionally show off his sense of humour. “The years that followed my first album release were extremely overwhelming, but also very exciting. You are now the centre of attention for everyone. The fast life became a dramatic change for me, coming straight from varsity to world stages and travelling with the best in the industry like Maphorisa. I never even thought I would need a passport before,” he added.
