Major League DJz React To Being Nominated At The BET Awards. One duo that has driven the sound to new shores, including a history-making Coachella set. Major League DJz, Amawele (twins) Banele and Bandile Mbere have broken ground globally with Amapiano and sat down with Clash ahead of their sold out headline show at O2 Academy Brixton.

Yesterday, BET announced the BET Awards 2022 nominees with Doja Cat leading the pack with six nominations. This year’s nominees reflect an abundance of creative expression and Black excellence across music, television, film, and sports. Hosted award-winning actor, writer, director, producer, and philanthropist Taraji P. Henson, the show will air live, Sunday, June 26, 2022, on BET at 8 pm ET/ PT from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The Amapiano duo Major League DJz found themselves amongst the list of nominees. This is a huge milestone for the twins, considering they were using a local genre and have taken it to new heights. They are nominated under the best international act category. Reacting to the news, the stars wrote: “MOMMY YOUR BOYS ARE NOMINATED FOR A @BET AWARDS 😩🇺🇸🔥PIANO TO THE WORLD.”

BET Awards 2022 nominations are selected by BET’s Voting Academy, which is comprised of an esteemed group of entertainment professionals in the fields of music, television, film, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, influencers, and creative arts.

The Boston-born South African raised brothers have not lost touch with their heritage at all as they consistently push the new age Kwaito sound. Through their unique and diverse DJing and performance techniques, Major league DJz have opened the door for the future of Amapiano DJ’s internationally, especially those coming out of South Africa. As the infamously designer bro’s arrive to the artist lounge at Atlantic Records, welcomed with a unique Shawna X Ballantines Gift Box, the duo opted for ‘subtle drip’ both adorning black tracksuits, white air forces, Off White and Balenciaga beanies.
