Watch! American Singer Kelly Rowland Dancing To Amapiano With Bontle Modiselle. Amapiano’s use of vocals has made some producers and vocalists household names over the last five years but a return to a percussion-heavy instrumental sound is set to dominate the future. The townships around Pretoria (or greater Pitori area) have produced some of the most recognisable Amapiano songs and artists over the past five years. The sound has even made it to the global airwaves.
Kelly Rowland danced to Amapiano song in Bontle Modiselle’s studio during her brief vacation in South Africa. Kelendria Trené Rowland is an American singer, performer, songwriter, actress, and television personality. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as a member of Destiny’s Child, one of the world’s best-selling girl groups of all time. The international star danced with the choreographer and a few other dancers and they had a swell time choreographing uniformly, dancing to hit single ‘Teka’ by JazziQ.
Reacting to the moment, Bontle said, “TEKA!!!! @kellyrowland is basically South African now! Adopted. Amapiano looks amazing on her and she got it with ease…please!!! This is 1 of 3, the others are loading…I rate her a solid 10.”
Kelly shared the video on her Instagram account and appreciated Bontle’s studio. “@bontle.modiselle This was one of the most memorable, fun experiences with movement I’ve ever had! Thank you to my bro @dale_deruig For hooking this up!! I can’t wait to get back homeTo S.A. for more good times, at your beautiful studio @bontle.modiselle!! Til next time.”
The video has gone viral on social media, and many have applauded Kelly for nailing the dance steps like a South African. If Amapiano were a house in a typical South African township, it would be the second house from the corner with Deep House as its front opposite neighbour, diBacardi its back opposite, Kwaito and Jazz its adjacent neighbours. Other sounds unique to South Africa have either established their longevity or exhausted their lifespans. There is a solid foundation laid for Amapiano and its walls are in the making.
