5 Facts About Amapiano Star Ntokzin. About two yearsago, the streets and the airwaves agreed that Amapino had transitioned from the underground, taken over mainstream broadcast, created household names and become the definitive sound for this era in South African music. In the short time since younger producers and DJs, mostly new to the industry have been moulding the future of the Amapiano sound and gaining recognition for it.The townships around Pretoria (or greater Pitori area) have produced some of the most recognisable Amapiano songs and artists over the past five years.

Check out these 5 facts about Ntokzin:

1 Amapiano DJ/producer Ntokzin became a key player in the scene after his series of collaborations with fellow superproducer De Mthuda.

2 Their 2020 album, Ace Of Spades, recorded during the first pandemic lockdown, is a contemporary take on kwaito with elements of jazz and Afrohouse, as showcased on the popular singles “uMsholozi” and “Dakwa Yini”.

3 Ntokzin was born in the Johannesburg township of Tembisa and grew up in the neighbouring Vosloorus.

4 He started making music as DJ Stars in 2017 while still in school.

5In addition to releasing his own hits like “Better Days” and “NgineNtombi”, Ntokzin has become one of the most sought-after producers in amapiano, having crafted multiple bangers for artists such as fellow Vosloorus musician Boohle’s “Singili”, one of the genre’s biggest songs of 2021.
