Samthing Soweto Calls On SA Female Producers & Studio Engineers To Collaborate With Him. Samkelo Lelethu Mdolomba, known professionally as Samthing Soweto, is a South African singer and songwriter. Samthing is best known for his vocals on Sun-El Musician’s song “Akanamali” and his number 1 single on spotify “Akulaleki”.
Samthing Soweto has been quite open about making music again after a break. While making a come back into the music industry again, Samthing Soweto shared that he has never worked with any South African music producers and studio producers, and he is currently open to collaborating with them. Taking to social media, Samthing Soweto shared his email address where they can reach out to him. “I have never worked with any South African woman Music producers and Studio engineers. I’m working on a album. Email me at [email protected]. Let’s work, please.”
Samthing Soweto turned to music after he was arrested for armed robbery as a teenager. While awaiting trial in juvenile detention, he often sang with his fellow inmates, and when he went back to high school after his release, he became a founding member of the a cappella group The Soil. He left The Soil soon after releasing his 2010 solo debut, This N That Without Tempo. The EP Eb’suku followed in 2014. While he jumped into amapiano a few years ago, Samthing Soweto is ready to make a come back.
Known for his acapella crooning, Samthing Soweto had previously collaborated with award-winning South Africa’s Mzanzi Youth Choir on “The Danko! Medley”. The collaboration is a treat for fans who are nostalgic for Samthing Soweto’s beginnings with acapella band The Soil. The smooth vocal arrangement and harmonising on “The Danko! Medley” ends the EP on a perfect pitch. The last track is essentially a rendition of 2019 Isphithiphithi lead single “Akulaleki” featuring Shasha, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small.
