Maphorisa Reacts To South Africa Still On Lockdown While Other Countries Have Scrapped It. With Super Bowl 56 being held in Los Angeles, the celebrities came out to SoFi Stadium in droves to support either the Cincinnati Bengals or the Los Angeles Rams. The likes of 2Chains, Burna Boy, Cardi B, Offset, Justin Bieber, Hailey Bieber, and Kanye West are some of the big stars who attended the event.

With pictures trending online and making headlines, Amapiano star DJ Maphorisa envied the fact that other countries are open with its lockdown being scrapped, however, in South Arica the lockdown is still implemented with restrictions of going to stadiums and large events. “Are we still on lockdown??? South Africa can be useless Open the county mannn mxm.”

The South African Government on the other hand plans to keep several lockdown restrictions in place, even after it has lifted the national state of disaster, says health minister Joe Phaahla. Speaking to the Sunday Times, Phaahla said this is likely to include rules around the wearing of wearing masks, sanitising, social distancing, and limiting the size of gatherings. “As long as we have the circulation of the virus, especially indoors, we are going to have to continue social distancing.” There will also have to be limits on the size of gatherings until the end of this year. The virus will still be there,” he said.

Phaahla pointed to the UK’s recent decision to lift all restrictions, which led to an uptick in the number of infections. “Even if you have 1% of seriously ill people, when you have 200,000 infections a day, it’s a big number and can overwhelm health facilities and become a challenge. So we are trying to find the correct combination and legal framework without the Disaster Management Act.”
