Lady Du Reveals Why She Hasn’t Been Able To Drop Her EP. Lady Du is currently one of the hottest voices in amapiano. Born into a family of musicians, her father DJ Choc and uncle DJ Zan D are reputable deejays and producers. Lady Du, real name Dudu Ngwenya, first learned how to play at the tender age of nine. Since then and during her early adult life, she had been trying to get a successful break into the music industry.
Lady Du had previously shared that she is working on her EP. This comes after the star announced that she will no longer be doing features as she is working on her own solo EP. However, considering what the star has gone through which she publicly shared, the loss of Mpura, breaking up with fiance, opening up about her breathing problems and forth, the star has apologised to her fans that she couldn’t drop the EP. Taking to her Instagram, lady Du addressed how sometimes as artists they have to smile even when they feel broken and that she has never been helped financially but built her own career by herself.
“I have worked days and nights trying to build myself, I have never been helped financially, I don’t have industry connections, I have genuinely built a career for myself that is run by the people, you guys have made me who I am today. It’s sad that at times we have to smile but we are actually broken beings. we have to give hugs to people when we actually need them ourselves. I’d like to thank you guys personally for being my strength, I’d like to tell you how important you all are to me. It is because of you that I could still continue and not give up on myself. I was not aware of what was happening, I actually thought I was losing my fire when someone just decided to have a say in my life. To all the promoters that just woke up and decided to direct message me thank you. I’m not one to fight nje and I’ve tried my level best to keep it in and not say anything but I thought naaaa people go through sooo much in this industry, these new age amapiano Kids need a person that will actually be transparent so they see the industry isn’t as easy as it looks. I have a catalog that has sooo many hits, I’ve missed out on serious opportunities but that’s ok, that’s in the past now, I don’t ever cry for things that I can’t control. I’d like to ask you to directly send requests to the number on my bio, or the email on my wall. I’m sorry I didn’t drop my EP, I was going through alot, I’m sorry I haven’t been myself, but after today, we move differently🙏🙏🙏🙏Don’t forget to pray everydaywomen need protection from people that actually take advantage of the fact that they are men!!!!! WAWA”
For her debut EP, which she’s in the process of finalising, Lady Du has chosen to work with less established artists and producers so as to give them a platform. We caught up with the trailblazing vocalist to talk about her journey to stardom, her musical influences, and the global recognition of amapiano.
