Uncle Waffles Reveals The Number Of Shows She’s Done In 2 Months. All it took was one viral video for Uncle Waffles to be catapulted into her dream life and now everybody wants to know who the cool young woman taking the world by storm is. Since her viral video caught the attention of the entire country, and even gained a follow from Canadian rapper named Drake, Uncle Waffles has become one of the most recognisable female DJs around. Real name, Lungelihle Zwane, Waffles is a 21-year-old artist from Eswatini. She matriculated in 2017 and worked as a receptionist for two years. She later decided to follow her dreams in the entertainment industry.

In just two short months, she’s elevated from being a little known up-and-comer trying to find her feet in the entertainment industry, to one of the most on-demand female DJs on the continent. In her two months as a household name, she’s bagged over a hundred and twenty gigs and hopes to keep up the momentum in the new year.“I played over 120 shows in 2 months and that’s God’s grace. Very grateful to more in the new year,” she shared.

She went from begging to play a 5-minute set in a club to becoming one of the most booked DJs in the country in a matter of days. Speaking on her journey to becoming a DJ, Waffles said: “I worked with a lot of creatives, including DJs, in my daily life. When they’d be around, I’d ask to try mixing and I definitely sucked. This changed when a DJ called Stunner actually started teaching me. We’d spend hours on end trying to work on my mixing. After 3 months, he stopped teaching me and insisted that all I needed to do was practice, so I did.Day in and day out during lockdown I’d go to a studio and practice. I would record my mixes to listen to my mistakes and work to improve on those. It took almost a year for me to gain enough confidence to take bookings.”

While her name was questionable as to where it comes from or rather the inspiration behind it, Uncle Waffles shared that it started as a joke. “It’s all from a joke. My friends in high school called me Waffles, and I just decided to randomly add the Uncle to make Uncle Waffles.”
