Umhlobo Wenene Reportedly Suspends Putco Mafani For Dancing “Nkao Tempela” On Top Of The Office Furniture. Nkao Tempela, a hit song of note by young artists Ch’cco and Mellow & Sleazy, has made it near impossible for most to sit when it plays. One of the most played songs at clubs these days, the song first blew up thanks to a viral video of cool kids dancing on escalators. Soon everyone on TikTok and Instagram was using the song in their reels and joining hundreds of others who joined the challenge to recreate the dance moves seen in the viral video.
Popular Umhlobo Wenene FM radio presenter Putco Mafani has been suspended after a video of him dancing on top of a table apparently inside SABC studios surfaced. Mafani is the second SABC employee to be suspended after Metro FM’s Dineo Ranaka was suspended last week for misconduct after a video of her doing a challenge on top of furniture inside the Metro FM studios in Auckland Park surfaced.
SABC’s group executive for corporate affairs and marketing Gugu Ntuli said: “The SABC can confirm Mr Putco Mafani has been unscheduled on Umhlobo Wenene FM. As a matter of principle, the corporation does not discuss HR matters relating to its independent contractors in public.”
Speaking to Daily Sun on Monday 24 January, he said he was just innocently responding to the public’s enthusiasm to the song, Nkao Tempela. In a written apology he forwarded to the SunTeam, Putco wrote: “I’m sorry for allowing myself to be swept by the exciting wave of the Tempa Danceat work. My actions were careless and overlooked a few important safety regulations. Through this experience, I’ve been exposed to many aspects of my job and its responsibilities which I might have taken lightly before. “I know I could have handled my excitement about that song differently. A sincere word of apology goes to the management and my colleagues for letting them down.”
