Lady Du Responds To A Social Media User Claiming Foreigners Are Taking Jobs Belonging To South Africans. Lady Du is currently one of the hottest voices in amapiano. Born into a family of musicians, her father DJ Choc and uncle DJ Zan D are reputable deejays and producers. Lady Du, real name Dudu Ngwenya, first learned how to play at the tender age of nine. Since then and during her early adult life, she had been trying to get a successful break into the music industry.
Lady Du reposted a tweet by a woman who was pleading with the public to help her husband find a job. The Amapiano singer applauded the woman and asked her fans to step in and assist. However, things got heated in the comment section when one social media user said foreigners are taking people’s jobs, more specifically jobs meant for South Africans. Lady Du slammed the comment saying, “Not on my wall love. Who are foreigners?? I don’t know what that is.”
Speaking on her brand which she says she stands for struggling kids, Lady Du said: “That’s what I stand for, that’s who I am. I try to represent struggling kids who are fighting against odds to reach a certain level of success. This is why I strive to be as transparent as I can because most times, as brands, we put on a front to hide the true struggles we often have to endure in the music industry. My brand is more aligned with kwaito. It’s aligned with authenticity, understanding who I am, trying to break boundaries and not be stereotyped. So, I’d say I am an African kwaito queen!”
A few days after announcing her split from her fiancé on Instagram Lady Du has assured fans she is in a happy place. She penned a heartfelt post and said hope is what keeps her going and she is doing a lot better than her fans believe. “It’s OK to cry as long as you release whatever you are feeling, it’s OK to be transparent so people never have things to say that are beyond your control. I don’t live life watching what I say and do. I actually live by the truth, nothing but the truth, I don’t have to tell ten stories to correct the lies.
