She went from begging to play a 5-minute set in a club to becoming one of the most booked DJs in the country in a matter of days. And as powerful as manifestation is, it is something that has worked miraculously for Uncle Waffles. The star shared her prayer she did before she blew up, and it seems she has achieved everything she prayed for. Check it out:
She revealed in her blog that she grew up with her grandmother; she only knew who her mother was when she was older. However, she reunited with her mother when she was nine. “Growing up, I didn’t understand why I didn’t live with my mother or father; as a kid, the only reason you think of is the only thing that would make sense. That they didn’t want you, so, unfortunately, that’s where the foundation started, I moved back with my mom at nine, and I felt I didn’t know her, so it was hard getting used to that, and with that came a lot of silent struggles, till the beginning of this year.”
Speaking on her craft and journey, Waffles said she took advantage of the lockdown to perfect her craft. “I worked with a lot of creatives, including DJs, in my daily life. When they’d be around, I’d ask to try mixing and I definitely sucked. This changed when a DJ called Stunner actually started teaching me. We’d spend hours on end trying to work on my mixing. After 3 months, he stopped teaching me and insisted that all I needed to do was practice, so I did. Day in and day out during lockdown I’d go to a studio and practice. I would record my mixes to listen to my mistakes and work to improve on those. It took almost a year for me to gain enough confidence to take booking,” she said.
