Major League DJz Reveal Their Last Conversation With The Late Louis Vuitton Designer Virgil Abloh. Top US fashion designer Virgil Abloh, the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection, died Sunday aged 41 after battling cancer for several years, the fashion and luxury house’s French owners LVMH announced. Abloh was the first black American creative director of a top French fashion house, bringing streetwear such as hoodies and sneakers to the catwalk.
With the sad passing of Virgil Abloh, Major League DJz revealed that they had been talking to him a few days before his passing. They also mentioned how Virgil believed in them and the amapiano sound. “Was just speaking to you on Wednesday and you said you were good 😞😭…We just can’t believe this bcoz you believed in these two twins brothers so much and the sound (amapiano) and where we wanted to take it. Thank you for everything you have done for us and our generation through arts. You are one in a million 💔 🙏🏾 Until we meet again big bro 😞 RIP 🪦 KING,” they wrote.
Abloh transcended the fashion world and his untimely death at the peak of his career sent shockwaves across the globe, with tributes pouring in from rival design houses but also actors and sportspeople for a man seen as a deeply humane visionary. The group said he had been “battling privately” against cancer for several years.
“We are all shocked by this terrible news. Virgil was not only a genius designer, a visionary, but also a man with a beautiful soul and great wisdom. The LVMH family joins me in this moment of great sorrow and we are all thinking of his loved ones after the passing of their husband, their father, their brother or their friend,” LVMH chief executive Bernard Arnault said in a statement.
