Here’s Where You Can Watch The First Edition Of SA Amapiano Awards. The maiden South African Amapiano Music Awards was graced by many South African celebrities who marched into the venue in their colourful outfits. It was the first of its kind. It’s a genre that’s been growing in leaps and bounds in SA and abroad, so it seemed fitting that it be celebrated with the first Amapiano Awards ceremony. The historical event was held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg and the pioneers of the genre were lauded for their work.

While many might have missed the event night due to costs and COVID-19 regulations, SABC 1 will be showcasing the event on the 3rd of December 2021 at 9pm.

Presented by actor and comedian Moshe Ndiki and content creator Robot Boii, the audience was treated to performances by choreographer Kamo Mphela, who also walked away with two wins, Sir Trill, Amaroto, Lady Du, and an on-stage exhibition to honour late Amapiano artists Killer Kau, Mpura, TD, Thando Tot and Rustenburg firefighter Sanza Mohumi.

Umsebenzi Wethu’ has been voted Amapiano Song of the Year at the South African Amapiano Music Awards 2021 last night at the Sandton Convention Centre.Busta 929 and the late Mpura ft. Zuma, Mr JazziQ, Lady Du and Reece Madlisa took the grand price of R50,000 for the Song Of The Year Award with all the other category winners pocketing R10,000 each.

Late amapiano stars, Mpura and Killer Kau who passed away unexpectedly in a horrific car accident while on their way to a gig were also honoured with an award following their outstanding contribution to the music genre.
