Black Twitter Reacts To Kelvin Momo Postponing His Album. Kelvin Momo (born Thato Kelvin Ledwaba in Diepkloof, Soweto in 1994) is a leading light of “private school amapiano,” a variation of the genre that employs elements of jazz, deep house, and lounge. Kelvin Momo is a diverse producer, primarily of Amapiano but his tracks have also featured on a couple of Soulful House compilations. The DJ and Producer made his debut back in 2018 on GaMoNa Reocrds before featuring on LW Recordings, House Afrika and others.
Signed under Kabza De Small’s Piano Hub records, Kelvin Momo is no stranger to the Amapiano genre. His previous and last album Momo’s Private School is still an absolute sensation of deep and soulful sounds of this genre till date. The album consisted of 14 tracks, delivering ear-pleasing melodies to his hardcore fans. On the album, Momo had invited guests such as Kabza De Small, Babalwa M, Mhaw Keys and Blissful Sax to name a few.
While anticipating his new forthcoming album, it seems the fans won’t be getting it today. Kelvin Momo took to social media to share that he is postponing the album release due to “making sure everything is right before releasing it.” He wrote: “I know you’ve been waiting for this album for so long and I apologise for making you wait but this album means so much to me, I had to make sure everything is right before releasing it.”
The star was trending number one on Twitter as fans were voicing their concerns and disappointment of not being able to stream the new album. Check out their reactions:
The producer’s 2020 debut album, Momo’s Private School, released under amapiano pioneer Kabza De Small’s label Piano Hub, is driven by darting keys and lush pads, replaced amapiano’s customary grit with a refined sheen, resulting in a stone-cold classic. That same year, he followed the record up with the EP Bayeke, released in collaboration with his partner, the producer/vocalist Babalwa M.
