Best Amapiano Newbies Of 2021. With amapiano being the most popular sound at the moment, the sub-genre has witnessed many upcoming and already popular artists releasing dance music that has kept Mzansi entertained during the pandemic. Most new artists progressed in the music industry releasing smash hits under the amapiano category.

Check out these amapiano newbies of 2021:

Pabi Cooper

Pabi Cooper really name Paballo Magoro rose to prominence after releasing her first amapiano single titled ‘Ispithiphithi’. She recently announced the launch of her record label named, Cooper Entertainment. Cooper who has one of the biggest songs on the dance floors in South Africa Isiphithipithi, is going totally independent and other celebrities in the industry have taken to social media to congratulate her.

Uncle Vinny

Kabelo Vincent Ndlovu popularly known as Vinny, is a jack of all trades in the entertainment industry. He is known for his dance moves which have been going viral. He is a former presenter on Hillbrow Radio Station and an event curator. He is also a content creator who has a following of 397 000 on Instagram and more than 90 000 followers on TikTok. In an interview with Ms Cosmo and Scoop on Popcast, “Uncle Vinny” revealed that he already knew in Grade six that he wanted a career in the entertainment industry. 

“I started doing theatre in Grade 4. I had the love of SA hip-hop before I was introduced to hip-hop. I’m more of a curious person. If I like something, I get to it fast. I just liked radio. In Grade 7 we did this project at the Hillbrow Theatre. We had a frequency where only people at the flat would be able to listen to the radio. I tried radio in Grade 8 and they told me I was too young,” he said.

Uncle Waffles

Uncle Waffles, also known as Eswatini National Lungelihle Zwane, is a 21-year-old DJ who rose to prominence after releasing a video on Twitter that showed her flipping the tables and sending the crowd into a frenzy. She was also followed by American R&B artist Drake.

Zuma and Reece Madlisa

This duo is the biggest surprise package of 2020 and 2021. After releasing their E.P ‘Ama Roto’, the song ‘Zlele’ went viral via Tik Tok as it was used to promote a restaurant called Junk Park. The song as sparked dance challenges that saw even Mzansi’s celebrities participating in it. They have dominated the amapiano space despite being newbies. Most amapiano songs are not complete without them being featured and adding their verse.

Soa matrix

Mandla Mashakeni, or Soa Mattrix, is a two-time double Platinum status producer known for his hit 2020 song Uthando. Since then, his career in amapiano has been skyrocketing, working with major artists like DJ Maphorisa, Kabza e Small and many more.

DBN Gogo

One thing most prevalent during the pandemic and took the country by storm was the female Amapiano artist, KwaZulu- Natal-born Mandisa Radebe who had the whole country doing the #DakiweChallenge in May this year.
