Lady Du eacts To Winning Big At The Feather Awards. The Featther Awards are known exquisite fashion, colourful entertainment, loud witty commentary and killer live performances, did not fail again this year. Setting off the star-studded evening in true glitz and glam, the entrance to the Market Theatre was transformed into a pink floral wonderland. Pink Carpet hosts Rorisang Thandekiso, Zanele Potelwa and Ayanda Makuzeni welcomed guests as they entered the precinct. Award hosts Lumko Johnson alongside Penny Lebyane, Ditshego Ditsego and Zizo Tshwete kept the audience entertained for the 3-hour long ceremony.
Leading the wins for the evening, Lady DU bagged 2 awards, the Fag Hag of the Year and shared Best Musician with Limpopo goddess Makhadzi. Lady Du is over the moon after going home with Musician of the Year awards and Fag Hag of the Year at Feathers Awards 2021. Upon securing the wins, she took to social media to express gratitude. “When God approves you no one can stop it Musician of the year, fag hag of the year 2021, to all my kings and queens thank you. I’d also like to thank @thamidish and the @featherssa for believing in me,” she said.
Lady Du claims she’s now a multi-award winning musician, as she recently bagged a win at Amapiano Awards 2021. The star said that she loves amapiano because there is n gatekeeper. “We’re literally running the genre as we see fit. Nobody is dictating anything to us! There is none of that old-school way of doing things where you need to know someone in power for your song to be played on radio. At some point, my song was not playing on a particular radio station but now it’s sitting at number one on that very radio station. How amazing?,” she said.
