What Amapiano Artists Wore To The Amapiano Awards Ceremony. The first-ever South African amapiano Awards has come and gone with huge success. The nominees of the awards were sometime in June this year announced on Mac G’s Podcast & Chill and afterwards, voting commenced. The event was graced by many South African celebrities who matched into the venue in their different outfits.
This was the first time that Amapiano stars were honoured at the award ceremony that took place on the23rd October 2021 at the Sandton Convention Centre. Media personalities Moshe Ndiki and Zola Ayabulela Myeza affectionately known as “Zeelovin”, were the main hosts of the awards. The red carpet was hosted by YouTuber Lasizwe Dambuza and radio personality Zanele Potelwa.
The maiden South African Amapiano Music Awards was graced by many South African celebrities who marched into the venue in their colourful outfits. Dubbed “Amapiano’s Biggest Night”, the event had prominent Amapiano acts such as Kamo Mphela, Focalistic, Mr JazziQ, Pabi Cooper, Reece Madlisa & Zuma, DJ Sumbody, Boohle, Sir Trill, Semi Tee, Busta 929, Kwiish SA, Njelic and many more gracing the performance stage. The 56 nominees included Boohle, Lady Du, Busta 929, Zuma and Reece Madlis, Uncle Vinny, Mi Casa, DJ Owami Mafokate, Kamo Mphela, DJ Lamiez Holworthy, Junior De Rocka, Killer Kau, Mpura, Kabza de Small and Focalistic.
‘Umsebenzi Wethu’ has been voted Amapiano Song of the Year at the South African Amapiano Music Awards 2021 last night at the Sandton Convention Centre. Busta 929 and the late Mpura ft. Zuma, Mr JazziQ, Lady Du and Reece Madlisa took the grand price of R50,000 for the Song Of The Year Award with all the other category winners pocketing R10,000 each.
Late amapiano stars, Mpura and Killer Kau who passed away unexpectedly in a horrific car accident while on their way to a gig were also honoured with an award following their outstanding contribution to the music genre.
