Pic! Maphorisa Shares His Old High School Picture And His First Business. Themba Sekowe born November 15, 1987 in Soshanguve known professionally as DJ Maphorisa, is known as the man behind many legendary and amapiano hit songs. He is a record producer, DJ and vocalist; and has worked with and has received production credits from several notable artists, including Wizkid, Uhuru, Drake, Black Coffee, Major Lazer, Runtown, TRESOR and Kabza De Small.

Maphorisa recently shared his high school picture and shared that he has always been a businessman. Maphorisa said he used to carry three bags to school, one with his books, and two filled with sweets and snacks, which he would sell at school. See post:

Today, Maphoris is known as one of the pioneers of amapiano. Speaking on how he makes songs blow up, Phori said: “How it usually happens is that we’ll either do an ordinary or exclusive mix, then publish it. People start paying attention to it — some music bloggers will distribute it on their blogs, websites and YouTube channels. That’s generally how our songs start growing. This usually helps us measure a track’s potential because, the truth of the matter is that, we have a lot of songs but not all of them are going to be massive hits. There’s a trend to this thing! Most songs that made it big were because someone posted a video of, either, myself or Kabza DJing or dancing to it. Social media dance challenges also help songs blow up. Lastly, a big shout out to TikTok for always putting us on!”
