Maphorisa Reacts To Being Excluded On Hit Single ‘Sponono’ Featuring Burna Boy. Amapiano duo DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small with stage name as Scorpion Kings dropped an amapiano killer tune titled Sponono featuring WizKid, Burna Boy & Cassper Nyovest; and the track happened to be of the first tracks to feature non-amapiano artists. It was also one of the few amapiano songs that Cassper jumped onto from Hip Hop.

Maphorisa took to social media to react to being excluded from hit song ‘Sponono’ featuring Burna Boy and Wizkid. The star is not mentioned on the track, and he asked how Kabza got the feature from Nigerian artists, not only that, but how he was excluded. The heartbroken star wrote, ” How did Kabza get a Wizkid x Burna Boy feature???? Worse part there’s no Maphorisa’s name on dat song. Can u please explain.” See post:

Sponono was lifted from his just released “I am the king of amapiano album: Sweet and Dust” which housed dope 27 yanos tunes, and featured other top notch music artists in the industry and also in international level. The project have been rumored to become the all time best piano project in history, and has achieved multiple awards.

Speaking on what motivated him to invest in amapiano, the star said: “With my gigs, I wanted to understand people’s reactions to this new sound because amapiano was underground. What really sparked my interest in the genre was that, at the time, I was looking to get into something that originated in South Africa. Amapiano is part of kwaito and dance music. When I started working with Afrobeats, which hails from Western Africa, I felt that we didn’t have a sound that strongly represented South Africa. When I started paying close attention to amapiano, I knew that this was a sound that would take South Africa to the world. There’s a lot that you can do with amapiano — you can make it soulful, funky, dusty and hard or jazz it up.”
