Watch! JazziQ Celebrates His First International Show Selling Out. Tumelo Manyoni known professionally as Mr JazziQ, is a South African Amapiano DJ and record producer. He is best known for being a member of the amapiano DJ duo, JazziDisciples. Tumelo Manyoni now has his eyes on a bigger prize of using his homegrown success to take over the global music scene.
The excited JazziQ took to social media to celebrate his recent achievement overseas as his first international show sold out. He also thanked his fans who came out in number to support him. “Last night was very special. Thanks for everyone who came out in numbers to support me! First international gig sold out! Along side my 2 sisters @Kamo_mphelaxx & @DBNGOGO Danko is ThankYou,” he wrote.
Citing House legends, from Oskido to Shimza, Culoe Da Song, and Black Coffee as influences, the solo sound that Mr JazziQ has been developing since 2020 is “definitely more commercial”. “It’s also upbeat and is made for people to respond to instantly – whether something to sing along or dance to – or to listen to while relaxing,” he said.
His debut EP, 0303, was one of the breakout successes of 2020 with more than three million streams. It also provided a showcase for Mr JazziQ’s ability to find the perfect creative collaborators on tracks like “Askies”, featuring Moonchild Sanelly, and “No 9”. The latter was made with Reece Madlisa and Zuma – two artists who Mr JazziQ worked with on Ama Roto (2020), co-released by Black is Brown Entertainment and packed with some of the biggest hits of the past year, including “Sithi Sithi”.
Having played a number of heavyweight shows as part of JazziDisciples (including Afro Punk and Black Coffee’s Music Is King which he rates as one of his best-ever live experiences), JazziQ is eager to make the break into an international audience. “Amapiano is energetic, uplifting, emotional, soulful and is ready to be taken to global electronic music fans – and I intend to be the one to do that,” he said.
