Ms Cosmo Addresses Different Booking Rates Of Amapiano Artists And Of Those From Other Genres. POPcast, the self-described next level of hip-hop culture and popular YouTube series with over 3 million views, is coming to Channel O in October for an original, four-episode special. Hosted by industry authorities and heavyweights – radio host and hip-hop thought leader Scoop Makhathini; presenter, DJ and producer Ms Cosmo; and digital creator and producer Sipho Snaps – the show gives unprecedented insider access into the business of entertainment.

With amapiano being the biggest genre at the moment, amapiano DJs are getting the most bookings while some came out complaining about low booking rates. Rapper Tshego took to social media saying he was being booked for an hour at a rate of R18 000; further stating that it’s little and he wouldn’t show at the event.

Ms Cosmo together with her hosts addressed the comment saying artists should get management companies to handle everything for them. They further explained that with piano being the most hot genre currently, the booking rates are not same with of those artists from other genres. “I think there’s a bit of an unbalance because now people are booking amapiano artists, while other artists are receiving less just because they are from other genres,” she said.

Channel O had announced that a four-part special of the show, will be coming to the screens. Viewers will get to see the panellists sharing their views and educating people on the inner workings of the industry. The four-part special will feature interviews with Dj Sabby, Ayanda MVP, Smash Afrika and Loot. The POPcast took to Twitter to share that the podcast coming to TV was a “dream come true” for everyone involved. The announcement is a big deal for all those involved as it shows just how far POPcast has evolved. Ms Cosmo retweeted the announcement and shared “I KNOW DATS RIGHT”.
