Lady Du Opens Up About Hanging Out With Homeless People. Dudu Ngwenya, popularly known as Lady Du, is a singer, rapper, dancer and songwriter hailing from Vosloorus. With a career dating back to the early 2000s, singer, rapper, and DJ Lady Du found international success after refining her sound to become a leading figure in amapiano. Today, it’s hard to miss her face on a flashing billboard on Time Square in New York. Her singles Dakiwe and Catalia are some of the most popular songs in the Amapiano scene and she features in Umsebenzi Wethu by Busta 929, Mpura, Mr JazziQ, Reece Madlisa, and Zuma.

The star revealed that though she is a celebrity, she does hang out with homeless people to hear their stories. She further explained that God will work through her and help where she can. “I sometimes sit with homeless people listen to their stories, draw inspiration. We are not stars we are vessels that God has chosen to help him do the work he can’t physically do. And proudly I will do the work assigned for me. I will help where I can. Money Is replaceable,” she tweeted.

She also mentioned that she doesn’t fancy material things, and doesn’t believe in giving to the poor with a camera in sight. “So I will be different, I don’t focus on things that don’t build me, material things don’t faze me. If I can touch a life nje, another thing a struggling human being doesn’t want to be posted struggling they allow you because you have something they need. Give without cameras,” she said. It was hard for the tar to finally break into the mainstream, but she finally go her breakthrough in 2020. Last year she released the singles Dakiwe with DBN Gogo, Seekay, and Busta 929 as well as the song Catalia with Junior De Rocka, Mr JazziQ, Sleazy and Mellow. “Those two songs put me on the Spotify billboard in New York, but the 20 years of hard labour and not giving up is what got me here,” she says.
