Idols SA Judge Unathi Sings Lady Du’s Praises. Since amapiano vocalist Lady Du made her debut at the Idols SA competition, the star has been making headlines for her versatility. The star joined Unathi and Randal on the judging panelist, replacing Somizi for that specific episode.
Unathi took to social media to sign high praises to Lady Du who showed her presence at the Idols SA competition episode 8. The star said Lady Du gives her strength when she needs it. “DU – I run to your voice EVERYDAY and I’m so happy to have met you @ladydu_sa You have given me strength when I didn’t wanna hey up, you’ve given me courage when playing on the treadmill. WAOW thank you I’m such a fan mntaka Mma. Thank you for joining us today,” she wrote.
Lady Du replied to the heartfelt message saying Unathi is the most selfless person she has ever met in her life. “I have never in my life met someone so selfless, I’m in my bed crying because of the love you showered me with today. I wish we had more celebrities like you. You are my idol. I love you to the moon and back,” she replied.
“There was no pressure. Somizi is Somizi and Lady Du is Lady Du. We are two different people and living in two different generations. He has his path and I also have mine. I never feel like I have to follow in someone’s footsteps. I could be inspired by them [but] I have my own shoes to fill and I wear them gracefully. I was anxious to be filling Somizi’s big shoes but I wasn’t really scared because I feel like because of my work experience and being an artist it became easy to relate to what the contestants are going through,” she told Sowetan publication.
