Cassper Pens Appreciation Message To Scorpion Kings. Cassper Nyovest who recently jumped into amapiano has been making waves following his yanos inspired album. The star was inspired to jump into amapiano by his fellow industry mates Maphorisa and other amapiano giants.
Cassper took to social media to pen a heartfelt appreciation message to the Scorpion Kings (Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa). The stat mentioned that the duo have contributed so much in growing the Amapiano culture to what it is today and it’s new heights. He wrote, “May we never ever take for granted what Maphorisa and Kabza did for amapiano and South African music with Scorpion Kings 1 and 2. That’s literally what shifted the culture and today we can walk with our heads high everywhere in the world cause piano is global. Siyabonga Gents!!!”
Maphorisa, who’s long earned his belt for pumping out hits for almost a decade — from Uhuru’s “Y-tjukutja” and Mafikizolo’s “Khona” to his own “Oncamnce” featuring Stilo Magolide, Kwesta and Zingah — made waves after his collaboration with Kabza. His studio has become a legendary haven for artists, both up-and-coming and established, that pass through it — including Kabza De Small, whose I Am The King of Amapiano: Sweet & Dust helped introduce amapiano to a wider audience.
Scorpion Kings, the duo made up of producers Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa, continues to spearhead and make efforts to take amapiano to new spheres. They are part of a handful of the genre’s acts who have performed outside South Africa — in countries such as Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya and now internationally — where the yanos is proving to be popular.
