Busta 929 Explains Why He Wants To Feature Non-Amapiano Artists On His Songs. A face of South Africa’s amapiano movement, producer and DJ Busta 929 has gotten parties started at a national level ever since he first popped out of nowhere with one of the biggest amapiano hits titled “Umsebenzi Wethu”.
Amapiano star Busta 929 opened up about why he wants to feature non-amapiano artists in his songs. The star mentioned artists like Babes Wodumo, Dladla Mshuqisi. “I wish that I could feature more artists from other genres in my music. Artists like Babes Wodumo and Dlala Mshuqisi, are some I’d like to feature. This is mainly because they are pioneers of gqom, and that was once the biggest genre. So inviting qgom artists into amapiano will make it even bigger and hotter,” he explained.
In 2021, Busta unleashed “Umsebenzi Wethu”, a song that became his biggest to date, before going forward to release his own solo EP titled Undisputed. The project is filled with memorable collaborations from artists across the amapiano scene (Zuma, Focalistic and Mgiftoz SA) and mellow beats carved from the distinct, lush instrumentation of the house spinoff genre.
He once again dropped Undisputed Vol 2 EP which has also been doing good. The project proved to be another step in a coming-out party for the DJ, whose status as an amapiano all-star is undisputed.
