Undoubtedly one of South Africa’s fastest-rising amapiano stars, Aymos presents his highly anticipated debut album Yimi Lo, which is now available across all major streaming platforms.
Yimi Lo, which translates to “This is who I am”, is inspired by his journey and experiences within the music industry, “When Emncimbini dropped I thought it was my breakout moment but after its release I encountered many obstacles and a season where I thought of quitting music up until the first lockdown. At one point, I even thought of changing my name,” says Aymos. Rather than give up, Aymos decided to re-introduce himself, and with the help of his long-time friends and producers Mas Musiq and TO Starquality, Aymos weaved together the songs that would form a part of Yimi Lo, which are a combination of afro-pop and amapiano, championing the Afro-yano sound.

Soulful, lyrically driven and percussive, the album features productions from the King of amapiano Kabza De Small, and South African DJ heavyweights Major League DJz, Josiah De Disciple, DBN Gogo and more, with vocalists Sekiwe and Boohle, prolific rapper Focalistic and Afro house music luminary Zakes Bantwini.
“Yimi Lo reveals the many layers of me as a person and an artist. Having done a lot of features and collaborations prior to this, I am stepping out on my own and carving my own path. I want people to experience the true musicianship in me,” shares Aymos.
