Watch! Mpura And Killer Kau’s Community Hold A Send Off Ceremony. South Africans are mourning the tragic loss of three of some of the country’s youngest and most impactful amapiano artists, Killer Kau, Mpura and musician, Khanya ‘The Voice’ Hadebe. According to a statement released by the police, department of transport, roads and community safety spokesperson Boitshoko Moremi said on August 7, six people died in a head-on collision on the N4 in Rustenburg near the Marikana toll gate.
As a way to pay tribute to the late stars and celebrate their lives and achievements, the communities of both Mpura and Killer Kau held a candle ceremony as a legendary send-off. See videos:
Killer Kau’s rise to fame came about as a result of the video he posted of his song on Twitter which went viral. DJ Euphonik picked it up, tracked him down and collaborated with him for the hit single, Thol’ukuthi Hey. Mpura on the other hand was most famous as the voice behind one of the biggest amapiano hit, Umsebenzi Wethu. Khanya ‘The Voice’ Hadebe was a rising star in the music industry and was already making a considerable impact at a young age, which is the case for all three of these talents.
Police have launched an investigation into alleged culpable homicide following the deaths of six people involved in a fatal car accident in Marikana which took the lives of musicians Mpura and Killer Kau. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and we hope they find strength during this difficult period. An investigation is under way to establish the cause of the accident. We are again appealing to people to adhere to the regulations as most accidents happen way past curfew time. Work with our law enforcement officials to ensure you arrive alive,” said Moremi.
