Boohle, real name, Buhle Manyathi is an aspiring musician and versatile vocalist with a solid reputation for crisscrossing so many genres, from house to gospel music was born in the East Rand, in a little township of Vosloorus in Gauteng.
With her family being Christians, gospel was one of the most preferred music genres at her home. “At home, we were raised Christian and we were not allowed to listen to RnB songs, so we used to listen to the likes of Ntokozo Mbambo. I would think to myself, I wish I could be like her. It is something that was always at the back of my mind. Even though I wasn’t vocalising it. It all started when I was a kid. I don’t remember anybody telling me to do this or do that. I just remember singing with my sisters and at school.”
Music has been truly her way of expression of her heart and world view., from a very tender age. The star opened up about telling her family that she wants to pursue music after high school “It was difficult at first. I mean you have to work so hard until things happen and they see actions. Although I was supported but they didn’t understand it. But eventually, they were very accepting and supportive.”
In 2016 she started getting recognition for her amazing signwriting skills and has worked with a lot of music producers as both a vocalist, songwriter and arranger and it has been nothing but an interesting journey for the vocalist. Today, she is having the time of her life and says it is sometimes unbelievable. Boohle is featured in one of the biggest amapiano tracks, Siyathandana by Cassper Nyovest. “Someone you grew up watching and admiring, the next thing you are in the studio with them. I had to do what I do and that’s sing. It was exciting. This experience showed me that people are watching from a distance so I have to always do my best,” she added.
