Nadia Nakai Gets Candid About Exploring Amapiano. With amapiano being the biggest genre in the country at the moment, Hip Hop heavyweights have also decided to jump into the hot genre that most if not everyone is listening to. Nadia Nakai also opened up about exploring amapiano.
“I did explore amapiano at the beginning. I did some work with Killer Kau and Kamo Mphela, we did about three songs but it’s a good thing that it never came out(she laughs). We did about 3 songs ad I played around with it but I was like ‘this is not my vibe, this is not who I am and I’m not trying to be an amapiano artist’. I love amapiano when I’m drunk but I’m a Hip Hop through and through. I don’t think it’s something I would explore,” Nadia explained when asked if whether she would explore amapiano.
Nadia Nakai also confirmed she has left Cassper Nyovest’s Family Tree, to start her own record label. Nadia also expressed that she was up for a challenge after breaking the news that his mentor wasn’t as easy as she had thought. “I am no longer with ‘The Tree’. I am working on my own record label. I need to be able to stand on my own. Funny enough, I was actually scared to tell Cass. Even after I told him, I could feel that he was a bit sad, but we are good,” Nakai reflected to the first time she told Cassper about leaving his record label.
The Naaa Meaan singer also revealed that Cassper advised her to sign her record label and not run it individually “which was good advice cause I initially was going to go direct like that. We still good but I think just like artist trajectory I have to do my own thing and stand on my own two feet and start my sh*t,” Nadia said.
