Lady Du Reacts To Sir Trill’s Single Nomination On Amapiano Awards. The first annual South African Amapiano Music Awards were announced on Monday 19 July. Taking to Twitter @Official_SAAPA (South African Amapiano Music Awards) shared a list of the nominees who are up for the awards. However, fans and artists are not completely satisfied.

Lady took to social media to express her sadness that Sir Trill only got one nomination on the amapiano music awards. Sir Trill was nominated under the Best Amapiano Live Vocal Performance, together with the likes of Samthing Soweto, Daliwonga, Sha Sha, and Boohle. Lady Du was not satisfied with the single nomination of Sir Trill and felt he deserved more than one considering that he has featured on multiple hit songs. “Sir Trill soooo many hits Got one nomination My heart nje mina these things break me,” she expressed her emotions in a tweet.

Focalistic, Kamo Mphela, DBN Gogo, Major League DJz, Lady Du, De Mthuda and Daliwonga are some of the musicians that lead the nomination pack for the inaugural SA Amapiano Awards (SAAPA). According to Charmaine Mthethwa, SAAPA vice-president of communication, the 20-category awards were founded and organised by a novice entity known as Amapiano Governing Body. The organisation is made up of “industry professionals and stakeholders who are passionate about the genre and felt the need to award its creators”.

Mthethwa said the organisation will reveal their sponsors for the public-voted awards in due course. “The governing body of the SA Amapiano Awards felt like Amapiano was not receiving the full acknowledgement it deserves. These young children work so hard and despite Amapiano having existed for nearly a decade now, there hasn’t been an awards show that has fully embraced their talents,” she explained.
