Donald Officially Taps Into Amapiano With New Single. With amapiano being the biggest sound in South Africa right now, plenty of established artists from other genres have decided to explore tamapiano. Afro-house singer Donald has been quite open about his plan to join the amapiano train this year. Donald Moatshe commonly known by the mononym Donald, is a South African RNB singer, songwriter, recording artist and entertainer.
Donald has released his new and actively promoted single, Colours, which is the first single taken off his upcoming amapiano-influenced. He takes it on a new level on ‘Colours’, as he shows off his versatility, his unwillingness to be stereotyped, and provides evidence on why he’s a multi-platinum selling and multi-award-winning artist.
This comes days after Donald shared the cover art for his single. According to the single’s description, “The singer flexes his reputable vocal chops on the track, oscillating between his lower registers and his now-famous falsetto. ‘Colours’ was co-produced by 12-year-old musical prodigy, Lega Deep and features all the usual trappings of an amapiano, including deep house elements, wide, airy synths, percussive basslines, and Bacardi drums.”
He rose to fame in 2011 with his Album greatest single I Deserve, which later appeared on his much anticipated and critically acclaimed second album Love Train, which was released in 2012. He released three singles from the album, titled I Deserve, Denial, and Over the Moon. I Deserve topped the RAMs Top 100 & Top 40 charts, as well as entering the Top 10 on the Media Guide charts, instantly making him a household name in South Africa. The success of the album brought him much attention, enabling him to make appearances on South African TV shows
