DJ Maphorisa Expresses What It Feels Like Being In Studio With Mpura, Reece And Zuma. DJ Maphorisa, who has long earned his belt for pumping out hits for almost a decade has become the pioneer of amapiano whose music expert opinion is respected. His studio has become a legendary haven for artists, both up-and-coming and established, that pass through it — including Kabza De Small, Mpura, Reece Madlisa and Zuma, and many others.
Maphorisa expressed how it feels like working with the just discovered talents like Mpura, Reece and Zuma. Phori said working with the trio is like working with SA legends like music trio Mashamplani or TKZee. He wroote, “Being in studio with Reece,Mpura n Zuma felt like im with Mashamplani or TKZee. i fuck with these guys they got da culture by da balls.”
Maphorisa worked with Mpura on a 2021 track titled Ngwana Mani by talented hit maker Felo Le Tee where he featured Kabza De SMall and Visca. The track became a huge hit and a favourite of many yano lovers tll date, considering that it has a couple of big features from amapiano mainstays. The track also was first heard on balcony live mixtape sessions which was delivered by Kabza de small alongside Major league DJz.
Reece Madlisa & Zuma on the other hand have been trending in both Mzansi and the world beyond since breaking into fame and the industry in 2020, and have contributed massively to the success of many piano hit tracks like the Umsebenzi Wethu, Sithi Sithi, Paradise, VSOP, 100 Shooter which was delivered by Kamo Mphela alongside MFR Souls, Major League and LuuDadeejay, amongst many other hits.
DJ Maphorisa has a thing of making songs he either produced or featured on bow up. Speaking on his strategy to do so, Phori said: “How it usually happens is that we’ll either do an ordinary or exclusive mix, then publish it. People start paying attention to it — some music bloggers will distribute it on their blogs, websites and YouTube channels. That’s generally how our songs start growing. This usually helps us measure a track’s potential because, the truth of the matter is that, we have a lot of songs but not all of them are going to be massive hits. There’s a trend to this thing! Most songs that made it big were because someone posted a video of, either, myself or Kabza DJing or dancing to it. Social media dance challenges also help songs blow up. Lastly, a big shout out to TikTok for always putting us on!”
