Bizizi And Kaygee Get Real On How The Pandemic Affected Their Careers As Rising Stars. Kaygee, real name Kagiso Mashiane and Bizizi real name Buhle Zizi have already become multi-platinum selling artists and South African Music Awards nominees, despite being rising stars who blew to fame not too long ago. Kaygee was the member of the dance group called Soweto’s Finest travelling the world. However, In 2013 he decided to focus on his solo career as a Hip hop artist, now amapiano.
They have both been immensely affected by the pandemic, just like any other artist. However, their careers were beginning to take off before the national lockdown in April last year. They had bookings for shows, were releasing hits and because of the lockdown, they say that their pockets have been affected but they are determined to bounce back.“We were becoming big and then we couldn’t get any bookings, we wanted to tour the country as well. We didn’t make money, the pandemic hit our pockets but we were able to push through and still release songs,” they told Drum magazine.
Kaygee said Amapiano started to dominate the industry and he took a shift to produce such songs. Their first song together was called Kokota Piano, which was a huge success. Together they have produced quite a number of good songs that had top up the South African music charts. Kaygee said they are here to stay and make good music.
They are now working on an E.P which is set to drop next month. The title is a surprise, but they promise it will be worth it with collaborations with artists such as DJ Tira and TNS. They said, “We are dropping a seven-track E.P that will feature great artists. I want to encourage upcoming artists to not think that making it into music is easy rather they should go to school. Its not all glitz and glamour, you need to have a plan B to make sure that yonkínto ihamba ngo line.”
