Lady Du had been trying to get a successful break into the music industry for many years, although she made songs with renowned producers such as DJ Clock, and DJ Mshega in 2013, 2014 and 2018 respectively, her breakthrough only came under a year ago through the track “Superstar”. Now she dropped and have also featured in some of the biggest amapiano songs in Mzansi.
Lady Du took to social media to flaunt her new baby – first company car. The car even has branding in her name and booking details. She captioned the post, “Branding is everything. Welcome WAWA 1 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 my first company car 🙏❤️ for my road manager 🙏🙏🙏 next my dancers.”
Lady announced that she will no longer be doing features as a result of focusing on her forthcoming project. Although she is grateful for the features as they opened doors for her, she also revealed that she has featured on a total of 68 songs. “Dear friends the featuring season is over. Thank you to everyone that called me for features. My door is shut now. Project drops soon. I’m focusing on that. I featured on 68 songs, Yes I keep count. asbonge,” Lady Du wrote.
Speaking on amapiano crossing over to international markets, Lady Du said, “It’s about time! I feel like South Africans have always had the talent and flavour, but lacked connections and contacts. If the latter hadn’t been an issue, then kwaito would have gone international. Amapiano, New Age kwaito if you may, is smashing boundaries at the moment! We’re coming for everything they said we couldn’t get. My team and I are getting a lot of [international] enquiries right now but can’t go abroad due to travel bans. But we are trying as much as we can to tour Africa first and get our crowd to understand the brand. And then when the rest of the world opens, obviously, we will be gone!”
