Focalistic Reminisces On What He Used To Dream About Whilst He Was Still Studying 4 Years Ago. Focalistic aka Pitori Maradona has been hitting the industry for a while now, from transitioning from Hip Hop to amapiano as he continues to rap in S’pitori—a vernacular spoken in Pretoria townships made up of a variety of South African languages, mostly Sesotho, Setswana and tsotsitaal (slang). His flows contorts accordingly to sit over the undulating beats. Hip-hop, old school kwaito and Pitori’s Barcadi house music are some of the genres he references.
Focalistic has made it clear that he always wanted to be a musician from a young age. The star retweeted his post he wrote 4 years ago when he was speaking things into existence, and he captioned it: “This is crazy!! 2017 I was always up in my apartment in Hatfield, recording myself whilst studying … I knew all I ever wanted was to make music my whole life! The message is : CHASE YOUR DREAMS!!Now I’ve got TRIPLE PLATINUM RECORDS AND COUNTING.” His hit single ‘Ke Star’ featuring Vigro Deep has now went triple platinum. See tweet:
Focalistic had dreams of a platinum coloured vinyl instead of his degree. After graduating for his University degree, Foca lost his certificate. The “Pitori Maradona” told fans how disappointed his mother was when he lost his degree certificate, and how she now has an even bigger achievement to put on her wall. “When I got my degree, I lost the paper and my mom was sad because she wanted to frame it. Today, I gave her the gold plaque and she couldn’t be happier, her face with tears of joy. Calling the whole fam! Dankie Ke Star! Let’s go platinum,” said the star.
His music consolidates a lineage of the genres he grew up listening to. The star gained more attention and fame following his ‘Ke Star’ single featuring Vigro Deep. The star later earned a collaboration with Davido on the remix of ‘Ke Star’; and then again, his song was witnessed being jammed to by American stars including Diddy, Alicia Keys, and Swizz Beatz.
