DJ Stokie Drops Visuals For His Latest Single Showcasing Origins Of Amapiano Per His Documentary. Setoki Mbatha also known as Dj Stokie is a well known artist from Soweto, South Africa. He was born and brought up in the town of Soweto and showed his advantage and ability in Deejaying since the beginning. He began his vocation by playing for nearby bars and gatherings until he got a big break in 2006. DJ Stokie is considered as the pioneer of Amapiano in Soweto, where the sound formed its niche before dominating the local airwaves.
Stokie’s documentary is titled iPiano eSoweto, named after his 2020 song of the same name, uncovers Stokie’s journey and the role he played on amapiano’s rise from a township genre to a worldwide phenomenon. “I think for me it’s a takeover, man. People are dancing to amapiano… So Stokie is a game changer” are the words that open the documentary. They best describe the genre’s current status and Stokie’s impact on its growth.”
DJ Stokie who have been hitting up the industry dropped a hit track titled Ipiano e’Soweto where he featured Daliwonga and Nia Pearl. Disc Jockey Stokie dropped the highly anticipated visuals to accompany his hit track iPiano e’Soweto, which sees DJ Stokie and presiding voice in the narrative, DJ Mageza as they take us on a journey of where Amapiano began and came to infiltrate Soweto before the world. Initially derived from the streets of Eastrand.
‘Ipiano e’Soweto’ was curved out from his 2020 studio LP project titled “My Journey Album” which housed a whooping 23 tracks and featuring other top notch music artists in the country. The project has been regarded as one of the best yanos projects in 2020. Stokie is basically celebrated for making a one of a kind music style, Amapiano. He cooperates with his accomplice Dj Jaivane who contributes in forming new music sounds.
