DBN Gogo On Who Was By Her Side Through It All. It has emerged that DBN Gogo, the upcoming house music DJ then, now established amapiano DJ, has carved out a name for herself without using any of her powerful family connections. She has built an empire all by herself. She undoubtedly owned the decks in 2020 and continues to do so well into 2021 with her online quarantine sessions and live gigs. As the saying goes, “The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart,” and this is what DBN Gogo is all about.

DBN Gogo opened up about her best friend Sibu Mabena, who was by her side through it all. “She was there the day after I was born, that’s when we met. My mother and her mother were roommates in University, in exile in Germany. And then we became roommates and that lasted only two months. We both f*cked up, like she was finishing all the juice in the fridge and I was chowing her food,” they both said while supporting each other’s statements.

DBN Gogo real name is actually Mandisa Radebe. She is the daughter of the former Minister of Energy, Jeff Radebe, who happens to be the brother in law of Cyril Ramaphosa and Patrice Motsepe. Jeff Radebe’s sisters were married by the President and Patrice. Sibu also added that there were situations in which Mandisa’s father, Jeff Radebe, could have influenced DBN Gogo’s career, but that did not happen, and with that said, everything that Mandisa aka DBN Gogo has achieved is of her own merit, and that her parents’ status did not do anything to her career.

Though DBN Gogo does not stereotype on the type of music she plays, her most viewed and popular sets and tracks are amapiano. Watch the full interview here:
