Aymos Explains Why He Had Taken A Break From The Music Industry. Do you perhaps remember the lyrics that go like “Piano, ‘piano, asisalali emakhaya ngenxa yakho” (which directly translates to: “‘piano, ‘piano, we no longer sleep at home because of you)? The line was sung by Aymos, on the anthem by the amapiano pioneer duo Scorpion Kings (DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small) on the song titled ‘eMcimbini’.
Aymos said it is easy to lose yourself in the music industry, and he decided to take some time to reflect. “That break worked for me, not just physically but it also gave me time to reflect on my career and identify areas where I would grow. The music business is all about planning and execution. During my break I got a better understanding o the music business. I have learnt that as much a we value and take care of the artistic side of things, the business side also need to betaken care of.”
This comes after he released his latest single ‘Jemeni’ featuring Focalistic. “I haven’t released music in a while because I decided to take a break, but one thing I told myself was that when I do release something t had to be powerful and be of German quality, hence the title Jemeni.
At first, he didn’t like amapiano and the idea of his song getting remixed, but he quickly realised he had nothing to lose. After seeing the response from fans and how much they liked the amapiano version, Aymos figured that he could bring something different to the genre—he set out to “add the soul, bring meaningful lyrics with a message onto amapiano beats.” Last year in 2020, Aymos released a collaborative EP with his frequent collaborator deejay and producer Mas Musiq, titled Shonamalanga, as part of a series of drops which saw Maphorisa’s label, Blaq Boy Music release six projects in 24 hours.
