Shimza Responds To Maphorisa Explaining Why He Won’t Join The Amapiano Wave. Unquestionably one of South Africa’s brightest and biggest talents, Shimza real name Ashley Raphala has made the transition from aspirant industry young blood to leading light of the global afro house scene at almost breakneck speed. It’s no surprise that he has an international music career now growing rapidly on the back of touring and performing over the last few years in Europe and North America including New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Manchester, Sicily and many more.
Amapiano, the fastest growing sound – vibrant and heady mix of deep house, gospel-inspired keyboards and traditional percussion is fun, funky and impossibly cool. South Africans are not the only ones that can’t get enough of the yanos – but the world is also listening. As a result, DJ Maphorisa noted of a few DJs including Shimza to play amapiano.
However, Shimza begs to differ. Replying to Maphorisa’s post, Shimza wrote: “We can’t all do the same thing because we all have different goals and paths in our careers ma brother You guys are doing perfectly fine without us and it’s amazing to watch from the outside! Keep going! We here to support.”
Heavy K is one of the DJs who have already tapped into the amapiano scene. He released an amapiano single titled ‘Uyeke’ which has been making waves since it was released till date. He also said he wants to feature Maphorisa after agreeing with Phori who said everything he touches turns into Gold.
Amapiano’s journey to the world was also made possible by the same technological force that helped spawn it. Musicians such as DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, DJ Sumbody and Moonchild Sanelly have reaped the most rewards with new trendy releases that have reached wide and varied audience.
