Many artists both locally and internationally have been vocal about where their source of wealth comes from. Touring and performing on stage is said to be where the big bucks are. However, with the coronavirus pandemic, some artists have ventured into other money-making businesses.
DJ Maphorisa has now ventured into the hospitality industry. He recently announced the launch of his new business. Taking to Instagram, he shared the flier of the business which is a spot for fast food, car wash, and fun located in Midrand. The caption of the post said “Finally Opened a new spot ko Midrand @utbmidrand please tell someone.”
His Chisanyama/car wash business is called ‘Under The Bridge’ and officially launched on the 16th of May 2021. “Opening a new spot tomorrow @utbmidrand Under The Bridge your support is highly appreciate 🙏🏾Shisanyama,
Car Wash, Vibes. Also thinking of hosting a spin show,” Maphorisa captioned his post.
His industry mates flooded his post with congratulatory messages including the likes of Focalistic, Oscar Mbo, DJ Sumbody, and counting.
DJ Maphorisa has always been about business, even in music. He also said if only artists used his advice on acquiring some knowledge about the business, they would not be dependent on gigs to make money. “Content is how people will make money during these times, but in these tough times it all boils down to what I said about understanding the business of music. Performances are not the only form of income for us and we should explore as much as possible,” he said.
DJ Maphorisa is now among other media personalities who have ventured into hospitality including DJ Shimza, Oskido, J’Something, AKA, etc.
