How Boity Feels About Amapiano. With amapiano being the current big thing, big artits couldn’t help but stan at the wave amapiano has created. As a result, the amapiano scene saw SA Hip Hop, Kwaito, and House music giants hopping into the sound, why some revealed how they truly feel about amapiano.
They say music speaks to the soul and this couldn’t be truer as amapiano seems to have been considered a gift by SAMA nominated Hip Hop artist. South African rapper Boitumelo ‘Boity’ Thulo has revealed how she feels about amapiano. Taking to social media, she said: “Amapiano is the gift that keeps on giving!” Although many artists from other genres have come out publicly about their love for amapiano, Boity’s affirmation shows how amapiano is being widely enjoyed even by artists in a different genre.
Amapiano first emerged in Pretoria, also called by its dialling code 012, many artists from Pretoria have become successful in the wave, releasing timeless music to represent their PTA hometowns including the likes of Kabza De Small, Focalistic, DJ Maphorisa, and counting. Boity is one of those people who believes in paying homage to her home town. She recently shared visuals for her latest single “018’s Finest” featuring Maglera Doe Boy and Ginger Trill, all shot in Potchefstroom, affectionately known as Potch, a quaint town in South Africa’s North West province where she’s from. The music video highlights the lesser known aspects of hip-hop culture in the otherwise sleepy town.
The single comes off Boity’s EP 4463, which dropped last December. Marked as a fan favourite “018’s Finest” borrows from Boity’s hometown dialling code. The music video showcases Boity’s return, who left as a young girl with colossal dreams to make it in Johannesburg. Just like every other amapiano pioneers who are each representing their hometowns with their music.
